Asutamu Land, 11-18-2012

I went to Asutamu Land with Naoko and Haruto today.  There was a show by a television action hero as well as an 'orienteering' event.  We were suprised at how many people were there - mostly to see the show and get their picture taken.  We stayed for the show but not for the pictures - an unbelievably long line that snaked all around the field!!!

It was a nice day to walk around and admire the colorful leaves and beautiful sky although we were constantly taking off and putting on various jackets, coats and scarves when the wind started blowing or the clouds obscured the sun.  We had a nice lunch in the cafeteria, stopped to see the big dinosaur which Haruto was still afraid of, and then headed home mid-afternoon.

I was handed another big bag of spinach (last time I cooked it with olive oil and garlic and it was delicious) and rode over to the store for laundry detergent, tissues, etc. and of course didn't leave without some senbei and candy...

I am now trying to fix my old blog so the pictures can be viewed.  I'm doing this by converting the slideshows (which are just black spaces at the moment) into still photos.  It was working until the last one, so I'm taking a break and I'll get back to it.

Anpan man bus - Anpan is a kind of bread.
There are characters for white bread, etc. as well!

Quite a play structure

An action hero show - you wouldn't believe the line for pictures!

There were crafts.

Beautiful leaves - these are Taiwan Fuu trees, couldn't find it on the internet...

This is the poisonous bee/wasp that can put you in the hospital or cause death!

The cafeteria.  There is a beautiful outdoor eating area as well -
very unusual in Japan - but unfortunately it was too cold.

Anpan man juice...

You can decide what you want by looking at the pictures, which have #s next to them, but suprise!  the ticket buttons don't have the #s - it's all in Japanese...

Astuamu Rex - the LED dinosaur.

We collected all our stamps and received
Astuma-kun washcloths when we handed them in.

Pansies are everywhere now, so I guess they are hardy.
